Can You Install Screen Doors as French Doors?

What is an Astragal Kit?
An astragal kit is used on double doors. The kit includes molding with weather-stripping that attaches to the non-hinged side of a door. This ensures the door closes firmly with no gaps. You can view full astragal kit installation instructions here.
Can You Install Double Doors Without a Center Post?
Yes, you would need to add an astragal. We do have an aluminum astragal that can be used between the two doors, which secures one door in place allowing the other to open and be used as entrance door.
Can You Remove the Screen in a Screen Tight Wooden Screen Door?
Yes, you can remove the screen in all of our wooden screen doors with the exception of the Creekside and the Classic screen door models

What is finger-jointed wood?
Finger-jointed wood is a woodworking joint made by cutting a set of complementary, interlocking profiles in two pieces of wood, which are then glued. Some of our wood screen doors leverage this technique as shown in this photo.
How do I remove the screen to paint my wood door?
Remove the screws from the screen frame and use a flat head screwdriver to pry between the wood and the screen frame channel. Once removed, primed and painted, you can simply reuse the screws to attach the frame back to the door.
What is a door jamb kit?
An adjustable door jamb kit is an aluminum framework that makes it easy to install screen doors on 2x2 inch porch framing (such as Fast Track and Screen Wall). The door jamb kit is compatible with 36 inch vinyl and aluminum screen doors.
Do you make doors taller than 80 inches?
No, all of our doors are 80 inches in height. We do not manufacture extended height doors.
How thick are Screen Tight doors?
Solid vinyl screen doors are 1-inch thick and wood doors are 1-1/8 inches thick.

No, we do not manufacture custom size screen doors. Our doors are 80 inches in height and are available in standard widths of 36, 32 inches – select models are available in 30 inch widths. All of our doors, wood and vinyl, can be trimmed up to 1 inch ...
Can doors be trimmed?
All of our wood and vinyl screen doors can be trimmed up to 1 inch from the bottom and ⅜ of an inch off the sides and top. Solid vinyl cuts just like wood with a standard hand saw.
What type of material are your hinges made of?
Screen Tight hinges are made of injection-molded plastic composite with 30% glass material for added strength. They are extremely durable and designed to resist corrosion and weather.
Are pressure treated doors available in 30" widths?
Timberline and Summit are available in pressure treated 30" x 80" models.
